The Types of Dental Implants

There are several different dental implant positions to choose from. The options include:

• Endosteal: These are the most common dental implants. They’re inserted directly into the jawbone, which helps stimulate and preserve the jawbone. You need adequate bone density and sufficient healing time for this option.
• Subperiosteal: Subperiosteal dental implants are the second most common solution. They’re placed under the gums, but not inserted into the jawbone. People with low bone density may consider this option.
• Zygomatic: Zygomatic dental implants are placed in the cheekbone. It’s a more challenging option, which is why it’s the least common.
