tooth extraction in a child?
Tooth extraction is the removal of the tooth. This method is only used on adult teeth when they are beyond repair. However, sometimes children may also be getting a baby tooth extraction to set the stage for orthodontics or other dental work. Whether it is for an adult tooth or a baby tooth, we only suggest extraction when it is absolutely necessary.
For an extraction, we thoroughly numb the area. Using an elevator, we will loosen the tooth before extracting it with forceps. The process is not painful thanks to the numbing agents, and there are sedation options available.

How to Prepare Your Child for Tooth Extraction
- Explain the reason for the procedure and its importance.
- Emphasize that it is pain-free during the process.
- Allow your child to express any fears or anxieties about getting a baby tooth extracted or an adult tooth pulled.
- Work with your dentist to explain the aftercare process and what your child must do.
- Gather supplies for recovery with your child.
Post-Extraction Care
While tooth extraction in a child is not painful, the recovery may be a little uncomfortable. It’s common to experience some swelling and pain after an extraction. Wrap ice in a towel and apply it on the face near the area of the extraction. You may also give your child pain medication like an NSAID. Your child should rinse with salt water 3x daily starting the day after the extraction, while also continuing their normal dental routine.

All the personnel are so friendly and ready to serve and to help. And Dr. Konotopetz is amazing. Especially my kids in the beginning didn't want to come , but after the first 5 minutes they enjoy to be there.
