Understanding the Canada Dental Benefit
The Canada Dental Benefit aims to lighten the financial burden of dental care for families with a combined income of less than $90,000 annually.
This interim measure zeroes in on parents and guardians with children below the age of 12 who do not have private dental insurance. Families within the specified income bracket may benefit from a tax-free payment ranging from $260 to $650 for each eligible child, with a maximum of two payments per child.
Applications for this benefit are currently open until June 30, 2024, and are applicable for dental care received within the outlined period. Administered by the Canada Revenue Agency, these payments offer essential financial support for eligible families.
Eligibility for the Canada Dental Benefit
To qualify for the Canada Dental Benefit, families must meet the following criteria:
- An annual income below $90,000
- At least one child under 12 years old (as of July 1, 2023)
- Lack of access to a private insurance plan
- The sole caregiver/parent receiving this benefit
- Both parents have filed 2022 taxes
Please note: dental costs covered by other government programs do not qualify for this benefit.
