Space Maintainers

When a child loses a baby tooth, there is a chance that other teeth can shift causing crowding or can shift filling in the vacant space. When this occurs permanent teeth may be prevented from growing properly, cause problems with chewing or even cause problems with speaking.

A solution to the problem is to use space maintainers. Space maintainers, such as a temporary crown attached to one of the adjacent teeth or a band, can be placed to hold the spot that was created by the missing tooth.
