Crowns are used to fix broken teeth, decaying teeth, fractured fillings, large fillings, for cosmetic enhancements of when a tooth has a root canal. The crown is a covering that encases the tooth surface restoring the tooth to its original appearance. There are a variety of crowns available however the most popular is porcelain crowns.
When a crown is needed it usually requires two appointments for the procedure. The first appointment involves making several moulds or impressions that are sent to be fabricated by a dental laboratory. The second is to fit the crown properly in place. In between the first and second appointment, Dr. Konotopetz will provide a temporary crown.
